07/27/2011 • 05:42pm • Lee DeWyze Engaged to Jonna Walsh!
People Magazine is reporting that Lee DeWyze is engaged to girlfriend of eight months Jonna Walsh. Read the full article below:
Lee DeWyze, the 2010 winner of American Idol, has some more great news to celebrate. The singer, 25, is engaged to model/actress Jonna Walsh, he tells PEOPLE exclusively.
“I’m excited,” says DeWyze, who popped the question July 16 over champagne on a private yacht under a fireworks-filled sky at Disney World in Orlando. The couple are planning to wed in the fall of 2012.
“Jonna is a Disney freak,” he says. “They were playing love songs on the boat and I got down on my knee and asked her. I had a speech prepared but it all went out the window so I just asked her. She started crying and I said, ‘Is that a yes?’”
Indeed it was. DeWyze met Walsh, 26, last October while shooting a video for his single “Sweet Serendipity.” “We were casting and I saw her and said, ‘Let’s go with her.’ I thought she was cute.”
“We hung out and we went to a Lakers game on our first date. She’s a Lakers fan and I’m a Chicago Bulls fan and we just clicked out of the gate.” As for Walsh supporting another team, “We’re seeing a counselor about that,” he joked.
But DeWyze did seek another sort of counseling two months earlier: He consulted Walsh’s sister before choosing an engagement ring.
“We do all kinds of stuff together,” the singer says of life in Southern California with his fiancée. “We go to plays and exhibits and Jonna is really into the planning for the wedding.”
Though they have been dating for only eight months, DeWyze had no hesitation before popping the question. “When you know, you know,” he says. “We both feel that way. We don’t need to be together 20 years before we figure it out.”

06/02/2011 • 09:51am • DeWyze to give a sneak peak of tour at TVBWF
From a new article at the NC Times:
Even if you are already familiar with vocalist and musician Lee DeWyze through radio singles or on television, seeing him onstage is a whole other ball game.
“I prefer to play live than in a studio because I like connecting with an audience,” DeWyze said during a recent interview. “I like seeing their reactions and people dancing and singing. It’s good times.”
Best known for being the season nine winner of Fox’s hit reality television show “American Idol,” DeWyze was already an accomplished performer and songwriter long before he stood in line with 12,000 hopefuls at Chicago’s United Center back in early 2010.
A native of Mount Prospect, Ill., DeWyze was discovered by an indie record label in Chicago directly out of high school and released two independent albums; garnishing loyal fans throughout the indie club scene.

05/28/2011 • 10:49am • Lee DeWyze Talks to THR
Courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter, check out this interview with Lee in which he talks about Finale-gate.
If the onstage action at American Idol’s season 10 finale wasn’t exciting enough, the off-camera drama between executive producer Nigel Lythgoe and season 9 winner Lee DeWyze certainly had tongues wagging the day after.
To recap: DeWyze, who released his debut album Live It Up in November 2010, was not asked to sing on the finale, despite a long-held Idol tradition of having the previous year’s winner perform their latest single. And when the idea was brought forth of having DeWyze hand over a microphone-shaped trophy to his successor — Lythgoe says it was presented a week prior, DeWyze says it was more like two minutes before the announcement of winner Scotty McCreery — DeWyze declined, saying he did not feel it was appropriate to be in “Scotty’s moment.”
All the gory details of Idol politics were revealed via Twitter, where both men have large and active followings. Soon after, it looked to be a case of “class versus ass,” as one commenter noted of the feud, but it’s taken on a whole new level of absurdity as at least one party can’t seem to let it go. (Worth noting: Lythgoe did not work on Idol during Lee DeWyze’s season.) What’s DeWyze’s take now that the feud has spread to heights never imagined? THR’s Idol Worship tracked him down on Friday afternoon for an update on Trophy-gate.
